| Description |
English: Merrion gates, Dublin Merrion station opened in 1834 and closed in 1934. It has a level crossing at the Dublin end. The photograph shows the old gates and a materials train during the re-construction and electrification of the line for the DART. The gates have gone replaced by automatic full barriers remotely monitored. The barriers and the adjacent traffic lights on the Dublin Dun Laoghaire road are interlinked to prevent stationary traffic obstructing the crossing. |
