(b. 1597, Bruxelles, d. 1643, Livorno) Mercury 1630s Bronze, light brown lacquer patina, height 63 cm Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna The statue has a companion-piece, Apollo and Cupid. Both statues were conceived as dialogue between a god and Cupid. (Originally a figure of Cupid also set at the feet of Mercury.)
