[edit]DescriptionMerchant Navy Class "Clan Line" 35028 loco on running trial near Swindon - geograph.org.uk - 1112285.jpg |
English: Merchant Navy Class "Clan Line" 35028 loco on running trial near Swindon. When this photograph was taken in July 1984, ex-Southern Railway rebuilt Merchant Navy Class steam locomotive "Clan Line" was on running trials on the Western Region main line to Bristol. Here she is seen just outside Swindon near Hay Lane, on route to Bristol Temple Meads. The locomotive was originally built in 1948 in the Eastleigh railway works in Hampshire. The locomotive was rebuilt in 1959 and ended her career with British Railways in 1967. She was then purchased by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society, who are still the owners today.
