Summary
[edit]DescriptionMercedes-Simplex PS40 - Flickr - skinnylawyer.jpg |
This 1902 touring car is a key Daimler product, and now is the oldest Mercedes-branded vehicle in existence. The "Mercedes" brand was used by Daimler, named after the daughter of a key customer. The name "Simplex" referred to the ease of operation compared to other cars of the time. It uses a steering wheel rather than the more then-common steering tiller. This car had a 6.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 40 horsepower. Top speed was 50 MPH. |
