English: Picture showing early tourists on the glacier "Mer de Glace" by Montenvers. The "l'hôtel du Montenvers" building in the background is from 1879. The railway was build in 1909, but long before tourist where brougth by mules to the hotel and viewpoint. The picture was put on a hard cardboard and cannot be used as a postcard. Unclear if this a standaard souvenir picture or a private group picture made to order. |
