Meolithic microburin
Description
English: Micro burin formed on a small flake with retouch at the proximal end which has removed the bulb of percussion. The percussion waves and arises form previous removals can be seen on the dorsal face. There are some chips from around the edge. There is very short, semi-abrupt, scalar retouch at the distal end on both the right and left edges of the ventral face and the distal point also appears to have been deliberately removed, possibly for hafting. There is short scaler retouch at the proximal end of the right edge on the same face where the retouch has thinned the end to form a projecting narrow section.

It is 23.5mm long, 12.9mm wide and 2.2mm thick; it weighs 0.68 grams.

Part of a larger collection of 5 pieces. In general the pieces are well made. All appear to be snapped from larger blades and this, as well as the evidence for multiple, neat, blade removals from a core suggests a Mesolithic date for the assembledge.
