[edit]DescriptionMenir do Barrocal - Portugal (52849535555).jpg | O menir do Barrocal localiza-se no topo de uma pequena elevação aplanada (a 200 m de altitude), a cerca de 370 m a este do monte do Barrocal, a 2,5 km da povoação de Monsaraz. Este menir poderia estar associado ao menir de Santa Margarida (CNS 691), que se localiza a cerca de 2 km. Este monumento monolítico foi talhado num grande bloco de granodiorito, apresentando uma morfologia ovoide achatada, com cerca de 5,72 m de comprimento e as faces profusamente decoradas, com motivos ziguezagueantes, serpentiformes, linhas ondulantes, círculos, covinhas e um báculo de diferentes dimensões, elaborados com recurso a técnicas variadas. Estas decorações foram elaboradas ao longo de uma ampla diacronia (Neolítico Antigo ao Calcolítico), identificando-se a sobreposição de algumas delas Este menir integrava um possível recinto de planta ovalada definido por grandes blocos ou afloramentos, um deles contendo um grande conjunto de covinhas. Nas imediações deste recinto identificaram-se vestígios de um fundo de cabana de planta indeterminada. A construção destas estruturas terá sido posterior à edificação do menir. O menir do Barrocal foi identificado tombado por Francisco Serpa em 1993, no âmbito do levantamento patrimonial do Concelho de Reguengos de Monsaraz. Em 1995, Mário Varela Gomes realiza uma intervenção arqueológica do menir, efetuando o levantamento das decorações e a escavação da envolvente. Em 2006, Manuel Calado realiza trabalhos de valorização, reerguendo este monumento. (atualizado por C.
