Men tracking a York boat, an inland boat used by the Hudson’s Bay Company, along the Athabasca River. The river rapids made it necessary for men to harness themselves to the boats and pull it past.
Credit: Bob Duncan, Fort McMurray the most challenging parts of the river. This came to be known as “tracking”.
