CHARLOTTE, NC — a group called Men Who Care asked African-American men to unite over the holiday weekend to help keep uptown celebrations free of violence. It came as a result from the Memorial Day weekend 70 arrests of young adults, predominately African-American and the death of a young man "We're not trying to be junior policemen," said former Charlotte City Council member Ron Leeper. "Our role," he said, "is just to be responsible men in our community." To help avoid violence on Monday 4th of July , the group plans to had as many as 1,000 African American men walking around uptown in orange T-shirts to create a presence that reflects the group's name
