| Description |
English: Memorial to Roderick McLean, MD. This memorial (seen towards the right of 1342371) was "Erected ... by a number of the inhabitants and others connected with the parishes of South Uist and Barra in token of their recognition of his eminent abilities as their medical advizer, their admiration of his many Christian virtues and their love and esteem for him as a friend. Obiit 14th June, 1861. Aged 41 years. 'The memory of the just is blessed' Prov X.7." Sadly, it seems that the memory of the young doctor's life is no longer blessed even with respectful acknowledgement of the sentiments expressed by those who knew him. |
