Description
English: "In memory of Edward Spencer Watson, 2nd Son of the Honble Richard Watson, Late Lieutenant 10th Royal Hussars and formerly Lieutenant Royal Navy. As Naval Cadet he served in Sir William Peels Naval brigade and was present at the actions at Cawnport & capture of Lucknow. Born 24 May 1843. Died 28 Jan 1889. And of his son, Henry George, 2nd lieutenant 3rd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. Died at Weedon Barracks 13 June 1893. Aged 19." (peerage.com: "Edward Spencer Watson was born on 24 May 1843. He was the son of Hon. Richard Watson and Lavinia Jane Quin. He married Mary Blanche Hall, daughter of George Hall and Mary Isabella Tibbits, on 28 September 1871. He died on 28 January 1889 at age 45....George Hall married Mary Isabella Tibbits, daughter of Richard John Tibbits, on 6 May 1849. He lived at Brighton, Sussex, England He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)". Mary Isabella Tibbits (1818-1904) was the daughter and heiress of Richard John Tibbits of Barton Seagrave Hall in Northamptonshire, whose father Charles Tibbits (1764-1830) had purchased the estate in 1791. On 27 June 1837 she married firstly Samuel Hood-Tibbits, 3rd Viscount Hood of Whitley (d.1846); secondly she married George Hall, MD; thirdly she married John Borlasse Maunsell on 17 June 1858, a retired army officer who changed his surname to Tibbits by Royal Licence that same year. She appears on the 1851 census, living with her second husband at Barton Seagrave Hall in Northamptonshire. He is recorded as George Hall, magistrate, while she is Mary I. Hood, Viscountess. She appears on the 1861 census, living with her third husband, still at Barton Seagrave Hall. His surname is recorded as Tibbits while she is still Mary I. Hood, Viscountess.
