Description
English: Church of All Saints, Bale, Norfolk, ledger stone of Jane Cony (d.1706) relict of William Cony (d.1675) of Bale. Nicely inscribed with 17C spelling (note 'honor' as in American English) and an unusual shape of 'w'. Canting arms of Cony: Sable, a fess cotised between three conies argent (a cony is a rabbit) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.220 "Coney of Gillingham, Norfolk") impaling Bendy of seven ... and ....., on a chief ... three fleurs-de-lis ..... (arms of Jane, his wife) (The monumental inscriptions in the hundred of Holt, collected by W.N. Dew, ed. by W. Rye, 1885[1])
