In preparation for and during World War I, many local National Guard units were called into service, both in foreign service and in service protecting the home front. This picture shows Company C, 318th National Guard Unit, Engineers, which was mobilized from the Vancouver Barracks to serve in France. One of the individuals in the group is Lt.
