Summary
[edit]DescriptionMelton Mowbray, St Mary's church, window (31740938348).jpg |
A collection of fragments of glass of various ages. The glass was collected from the church and others nearby in 1820 by Dr Thomas Ford, and reset by William Wailes in 1869. One of the figures at the top may represent Robert Hudson, founder of Bede House, and his coat of Arms can be seen, as well as that of the Company of Haberdashers, and Coat of Arms of the City of London. The badge of The Mowbrays can also be seen, as well as many other interesting fragments. It was removed to a place of safety in the Second world War. |
