Description
English: Plaque at the entrance of the South Lawn car park at the University of Melbourne:

THIS PORCH WAS FORMERLY THE ENTRANCE TO THE HEAD OFFICE OF THE COLONIAL BANK OF AUSTRALASIA, ERECTED IN THE YEAR 1880 AT THE NORTH EAST CORNER OF ELIZABETH AND LITTLE COLLINS STREETS.

IN 1918 THE COLONIAL BANK AMALGAMATED WITH THE NATIONAL BANK OF AUSTRALASIA. IN 1932 THE OLD BUILDING WAS DEMOLISHED, AND THE AUTHORITIES OF THE NATIONAL BANK AFTER REFERENCE TO AND ON THE ADVICE OF THE ROYAL VICTORIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

PRESENTED THE PORCH TO THE UNIVERSITY.
