Deutsch: Das Programm der Festtagsseite des Altares beginnt auf dem linken Flügel mit der Anbetung der Heiligen Drei Könige. Die Weisen sind mit ihrem Gefolge herbeigeeilt, um das Kind anzubeten. Maria, das Kind und Joseph erwarten sie am Tor eines verfallenen Palastes, in dem ein mit Stroh gedecktes Dach notdürftigen Schutz gewährt. Die romanischen Bauformen des ruinösen, fahlgrauen Gemäuers bezeugen den Verfall eines vergangenen Zeitalters, das dem Untergang geweiht ist. So ist die Ruine ein Sinnbild der Zeit des mosaischen Gesetzes, die durch das Erscheinen Christi ihr Ende gefunden hat. Nach einer Legende soll Christus in der Ruine von Davids Palast in Bethlehem geboren sein als Hinweis darauf, daß er von dessen Geschlecht abstamme. Mit der Verehrung des neugeborenen Christkönigs an der Stätte der Herrschaft Davids wird nicht nur die Überwindung des Alten Testaments veranschaulicht, sondern zugleich die Verheißung des Neuen Testaments symbolisch gedeutet.
