Summary
[edit]DescriptionMeet Kelly Henderson Nelson Contamination Control Lead for the James Webb Space Telescope’s OTIS (25921419047).jpg |
This is Kelly Henderson Nelson, contamination control lead for the James Webb Space Telescope’s OTIS (the combined telescope optics and science instruments). Her team kept Webb clean during testing at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. She is dressed in a “bunny suit” and standing in an air shower - these are ways we keep cleanrooms clean from the people who work in them. "The challenge we faced here was enormous. Our team was responsible for keeping a space telescope of this size clean in the world's largest cryogenic thermal vacuum chamber. I'm Kelly Henderson Nelson. I'm the contamination control lead for James Webb's OTIS." Credit: NASA/Sophia Roberts/Chris Gunn |
