Das Alte Schloss bildet mit dem Dagobertsturm den ältesten, auf das 7. Jahrhundert zurückgehenden Kern der Stadt. Die mit vier Rundtürmen versehene Wehrburg diente den Konstanzer Bischöfen als Fluchtburg, wenn diese sich mal wieder von ihren Untertanen bedroht fühlten. Ihr heutiges Aussehen erhielt die Burg nach Umbauten im Jahr 1508. Von 1526 bis 1750 diente sie als Wohnsitz für die Konstanzer Bischöfe. 1838 ging die Anlage in den Privatbesitz von Freiherr von Laßberg, dem Schwager der Dichterin Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, über. Zu besichtigen sind alte Einrichtungen und Sammlungen des Freiherrn von Laßberg, die fürstbischöfliche Kapelle, Burgküche, Brunnenstube, Verlies, Rittersaal und eine mittelalterliche Waffen- und Rüstungssammlung. Heute ist die Burg die älteste bewohnte Burg Deutschlands. |
