Title
Medieval vessel leg (ewer)
Description
English: Medieval cast copper-alloy vessel leg, c.1300-1500 AD, probably from a ewer (water jug). The leg has an elongated D-shaped cross-section with a rounded front and flat back. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The oval foot projects forward and has a rounded end. It is 35.2mm tall, 23.3mm wide, 12.8mm thick; it weighs 38.06 grams.

The foot would have been one of three on a complete vessel, which would have been used to hold water for hand-washing (Lewis 1987).
