Title
Medieval to post-Medieval ewer leg
Description
English: A copper-alloy pot leg of Medieval to early post-Medieval date.

The steeply-angled leg is of sub-triangular section, having slightly convex sides and truncated outer angle. A transverse ridge separates the leg from the foot, the latter of which is flat on the bottom and has bowed outer sides which converge towards the squared toe. The piece measures 28.03mm high, up to 11.8mm wide and weighs 22.1g.

A parallel for this leg - suggested to be from a small cauldron, ewer or jug - was found in excavations in Winchester (Biddle 1990: 956/fig. 293, no. 3397), in a late 15th to early 16th century context. Another similar leg came from an early 15th century context in London (Egan 1998: 166/fig. 132, no. 459) and is recorded as probably being part of a tripod ewer.
