Medieval single loop buckle
Description
English: A Medieval copper alloy single loop oval buckle frame with an integral box chape of 15th century date. The oval frame has a tri- lobed inner edge and two moulded trefoils on the outer edge. The box chape is decorated with grooved linear patterns, The pin survives intact and is wrapped around the central strap bar. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead (1996) p 38, number 225, which is dated between c. AD 1400 - 1500.
