Medieval single loop buckle
Description
English: An incomplete medieval copper-alloy single loop buckle dating to the period c AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle is sub-triangular in plan and features a narrowed and offset strap bar. The strap bar has moulded ribs at either end and the loop is pointed. The pin is missing. The outer edge of the buckle has a centrally located notch for a pin rest. This is flanked by a groove on either side which are in turn flanked by a series of incised transverse grooves to the angles of the frame. The pin rest is flanked by two knops, one on either side.
