Title |
Medieval single loop buckle |
||
Description |
English: A corroded Medieval cast copper alloy single loop buckle. The buckle is oval in shape with an offset strap bar. The part of the frame opposite the strap bar is expanded into an ovoid shape, the centre of which is recessed around its circumference in order to accommodate a roller strip on which the pin would rest. The pin and buckle plate are missing. According to Egan, Dress Accessories (2002) p76/7 No.317, buckles of this type have been dated through ceramic association to circa 1270-1350 AD. |
