Description |
English: Medieval copper alloy buckle with cast single loop D-shaped lipped frame, and sheet plate. Frame has notched lip and narrowed and offset strap bar; ?cast pin. Folded rectangular sheet plate, recessed to take the pin; two flat-headed copper alloy rivets at the attachment end; the plate is squashed just 10mm from the attachment end, suggesting the strap only reached that far down the plate. Frame and plate - mid grey-green patina; pin and rivets - brighter green patina. Overall length 45.1mm, length of frame 18mm, length of plate 30.4mm, width of frame 25.8mm, width of plate 15.1mm, thickness of frame 2.7mm, thickness of plate (at rivets) 3.8mm, weight 6.22g.
