Title
Medieval ring brooch
Description
English: A complete cast copper-alloy ring brooch of the Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1400). The frame is broadly oval in shape and circular in cross section. The pin is made from a single broadly rectangular sheet of copper-alloy bent around the frame to form two layers. The ends of the pin taper to form a pointed terminal that overhangs the frame, and the whole pin moves freely around the frame. All surfaces have a mid-brown patina and there are several areas of lamination across the frame and pin.

The frame measures a maximum of 30.2mm diameter and 2.6mm thick. The pin bar is 31.5mm long, 5.2mm wide and 2.1mm thick. The entire brooch weighs 4.73 grams.
