Title
Medieval rectangular buckle
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy medieval sub-rectangular buckle. The frame is thick and well-proportioned, with a pin rest on one of the longer edges of the upper face. The buckle frame has bevelled edges such that it is hexagonal in cross-section. There are a number of diagonal file marks along the faces. The copper-alloy pin has survived well. It is of looped construction and tapers slightly towards its tip. This buckle is similar to one illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 95; ref. 425) and to one found in the vicinity and recorded on this database: ref. <a href ="pas_obj.php?type=finds&id=001445F5C8501D65" target = "blank>" </a>HAMP-F5C050</a>.
