Description |
English: A lead papal bulla of Pope Boniface IX (1389-1404AD). The object consists of a sub-circular disc with a vertical central hole. On the obverse is an image in relief of two heads facing inwards - the one on the right being a depiction of St. Peter; the one on the left is St. Paul. Around each of the heads is a beaded border and at the centre is a cross. The legend above reads: "SPASPE" (meaning "St. Peter and St. Paul"). The reverse has the legend: ":BOnI/:FATIUS/PP:VIIII". A beaded border marks the perimeter of both sides of the object. The piece measures 36.1mm in diameter, 5.5mm thick and weighs 42.52g. |
