Title
Medieval or Post Medieval Double Loop Oval Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval or Post Medieval double loop oval buckle dating to c. 1350-1650. The remains of the buckle consist of the simple double loop buckle frame with narrowed strap bar; the pin is missing. There is a patch of iron corrosion on the top of the pin rest and strap bar, suggesting that the pin was composed of iron. The buckle frame measures 28.2 mm in length, 19.2mm in width at the strap bar. The thickness is 2mm. The weight is 3.75 grams. Similar example are illustrated in Whitehead 2003, pp 54-54, which date from the Medieval to Post Medieval periods.
