Title
Medieval lyre-shaped strapend
Description
English: Possibly part of a cast copper alloy strapend of 'lyre-shape', dating from the 15th century. Only the main body survives, the lyre-shaped openwork terminal is missing. The main body consists of a hollow trapezoidal fitting which the strap was attached due with two small rivets. The rivets seem to be retained within the body, but are fused with possible remains of leather and corrosion products. The reverse of the strapend is plain while the obverse was decorated with moulded decoration made up of lines. The surface is extremely worn.
