Medieval lead papal bulla
Description
English: Lead papal bulla of Innocent VI (1352-62AD). The obverse depicts St Peter and St Paul each within a pelleted border facing inwards. The beard on St Paul has been created using incised and raised lines, while the beard on St Peter has been created by using pellet decoration. The word 'SPASPE' (St Paul, St Peter) lies over the portraits. The reverse is inscribed INNO/CETIVS/PP VI. There is a near identical example in the City and County Museum, Lincoln (LCNCC: 2182.25).
