Description
English: A complete copper-alloy, rotary casket key of medieval date, c.AD 1150 - 1450. The key is small and very worn with an ovate cross section. A lozenge bow with oval shaped aperture, extends from one end of the stem with a raised collar where the two elements meet. The opposite end of the stem tapers to a worn point. A simple bit projects out at 90 degrees to the stem.

The metal has a dark brown patina and is smooth. The key is 37.4mm long,11.4mm wide, 3.0mm thick and weighs 2.2g.
