Description
English: A copper-alloy medieval 'rampant lion on shield' jetton of Louis de Male, c AD 1346-1384. Obverse inscription + LES GETOVERS DE LA depicting a shield bearing the lion rampant of Flanders within a beaded inner circle and edged with a beaded circle. Reverse type depicts a triple stranded straight cross fleuretty, with leafy ornaments within a double-stranded quatrefoil. Trefoils in each external angle of the foil. Similar to Mitchiner, 1988 nos 784-9 (especially 785).
