Description
English: The Basilica of Our Lady, even for those who aren't catholic, is etched on the Guelph mindscape due to a strange historical fact. John Galt, a protestant, was given important advice by Bishop Alexander McDonell of Upper Canada and in return gave him a little stock in the new Canada Company, land for a church and friendship. Many years later, after a wooden church on the site was burned down by a protestant, the catholic faithful wanted something more lasting. And it has.
