Title
Medieval harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant, in very poor condition. The suspension loop is missing, save for a small stump. The surface is worn and badly corroded with a light verdigris colour. The face has a discernable design, in the form of alternating vertical stripes, indicated by four evenly-spaced raised areas and three ‘sunken’ stripes. some small scraps of blue enamel survive I. Szymanski has identified this as probably being the crest of three men called Guy de Brienne. This artefact dates to the 13th or 14th century.
