Description |
English: Medieval Fragment of buckle, corroded and broken, hollow trapezoidal plate and part of one side of lyre-shaped frame only with openwork foliate lobe. Width at attachment edge, 26mm, pierced at mouth by two rivet-holes. A perforation at the centre of the concave-sided springing retains a D-sectioned fragment of pin-loop. Plate decorated with black-letter inscription partly obscured by corrosion, perhaps ihs . Similar form to strap-end illustrated in Fingerlin 1971, no.286. Late 14th/early 15th century. |
