Medieval finger ring
Description
English: A gold finger ring of possible Medieval date.

The ring has a simple band of D-shaped section. The outside of the band is incised with '+ better + may + be'.

The bezel has a conical base of approx. 1mm depth, with a C-shaped claw emerging on four sides by which to set the stone.

The stone was found, but separate from its setting. It is a purple ?amethyst that is somewhat egg-shaped and smoothed.
