Medieval copper alloy knife handle
Description
English: Medieval copper alloy knife terminal in shape of a dog's head, 15mm long, 13mm wide and 8mm thick. The object is in a fair condition with a green patina and weighs 6.32 grams. The object is sub-rectangular in form with a rounded upper surface and has a protruding 'snout' which is also sub rectangular in form and section. The snout has a slight recess to show the mouth and it has two circular recesses for eyes where the snout and head meet. On one side of the 'neck' are two faint diagonal incised lines. There is a faint ridge running down the back of the head and the underside of the object has the remains of an iron blade 10mm long and 2.5mm wide.
