Description
English: TREASURE CASE 2012 T360

Description: silver-gilt thimble, made of silver sheet. At the base there is a border chased with flowers and foliage with a plain band on either side (above and below). The rest of the thimble, including the crown, is decorated with regular small dimples. There is no makers mark and the thimble is slightly distorted.

Diameter: 15.47mm

Length: 23.88mm

Weight: 4.37g

Discussion:

This thimble can be compared to item 53 in 'Thimble from the Collection of Edwin F Holmes', Christies, South Kensington, Wednesday 31 May 1995. It was dated to 1770 AD.

The find dates to later than 1712 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
