Medieval coin weight: ecu d'or
Description
English: A medieval copper alloy uniface coin weight, probably for a French royal d'or, dating to c. 1422-1461.

The object is square in shape. On the obverse face is a half length figure enclosed in a solid circle. The figure holds a sceptre in their right hand, and two lis are present either side of the head. The reverse is blank.

Withers and Withers (2011: 30) present a similar example and emphasise the variety of this form.

Measurements: 14.9mm length, 13.9mm width, 2.5mm thickness, 2.62g.
