English: A Medieval silver Double Patard of Charles the Bold (Duke of Burgundy) circa 1467-77. A slightly clipped and plough damaged coin, scuffed on both faces. Obverse : Burgundy coat of arms on large shield with the inscription +KAROLVS : D ( ) GRA : DVX :BVRG : CO : FLA Reverse : cross with quarterfoil and lis in centre. Large ornate lis on end of each cross arm. Inscription : + SIT : NOMEN : DOMINI : BENEDICTVM Was made legal tender in England in 1469 and circulated as fourpence (groat) |
