Title
Medieval coin : copy of a gros tournois
Description
English: Silver imitation of a gros tournois of Philip III or IV of France, Germany or Low Countries, early 14th century.

Marcus Phillips comments:

The chatel side is very good with a close rendering of the early style. The cross side, by contrast, is clumsy. The blundering of the outside legend particularly the IhV XPI at the end is not unusual. What is very odd is the blundering of the PhILIPPVS REX. It seems to read PhILMIVS REX though it would help to get the green off. The pelleted X in REX is a feature of the early coins. So German or Low Countries: early 14th century is the best we can do.
