Title
Medieval coin: cut farthing of Henry III
Description
English: A medieval silver cut farthing of Henry III (1216-1272) dating to AD 1248-50.

As North (1991: 182) no. 988, Class 3c, with annulet eyes enclosing a pellet. Possibly minted at Lincoln, as the reverse appears to read OIL, but this effect may have been created through ligation and should be interpreted as ON L. See GLO-2CD168 for a similar example of this inscription on Henry's coinage, albeit in a different class.

Measurements: 9.9mm radius, 1.1mm thickness, weight 0.47g.
