Medieval buckle with rectangular frame
Description
English: Medieval Buckle with rectangular frame of unusual form. The sides and bar are narrow (<1mm) and high (3.5mm). Outside edge with pin notch and external quarter-round moulding, which is decorated along both edges with very fine rocker-arm engraving. Pin is of rectangular section strip. Sheet plate with pin hole, slight recesses for frame, one rivet hole now torn through to rounded attachment edge. Frame 12.5 x 11mm. Plate 25 x 9mm. 13th – 14th century.
