Title
Medieval buckle frame fragment
Description
English: Medieval buckle; fragment of cast copper alloy buckle frame of probable 13th or 14th century date. The frame has an ornate outer edge, moulded as an enlarged bar with outer knops at either end and four moulded ridges between. The central hollow would presumably act as a pin rest. The sides of the buckle frame are narrower and of oval cross section. The back of the frame and the pin bar are missing.

Length 22.5mm, width 11.6mm, thickness 4.3mm, weight 2.73g
