Title
Medieval buckle
Description
English: A fragment of a copper alloy buckle dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1350-1500.

Part of the frame survives. The remainder of the frame, central bar and pin are all missing. The surviving frame is sub-circular in cross section, and is leech shaped, thickening in its centre and tapering to its ends. This shape suggests that it originates from a double loop buckle akin to DEV-B95A1D. That example is similar to Egan and Prichard (1991: 83) number 333, of which there are numerous other local examples on the database including DEV-081A29.

Measurements: 40.0mm length, 9mm width, 6.5mm thickness, weight 8.57g.
