Medieval buckle
Description
English: A complete, but badly corroded, copper alloy buckle of medieval date (c. AD 1350-1400). The frame of the buckle is sub-rectangular in plan, consisting of a single loop. The lip and pin bar are straight, and the sides are curved. The object is D shaped in section. The inner edges of the frame are worn and corroded. The frames outside edge is moulded with two small lobed knops on the corners.The pin is still in situ, and wrapped around the off-set pin bar.

Length 15.5mm, width 20.6mm, thickness 2.5mm, weight 1.71g. Cf. Whitehead, 1996: p. 21, no. 84; p. 27, no. 138.
