Medieval buckle
Description
English: A complete composite medieval, cast copper alloy buckle with pin, plate and hook, dating to AD 1300-1500. The single loop frame is trapezoidal in shape with lobed knopped feet. A single rivet in the middle of the frame secures the tapering hook and folded plate. The frame is broadly rectangular in shape but with flared shoulders at the hook end and slightly concave on the underside. An open loop pin is present in the pin slot. Similar in form to Ellis (in Clark,1995), p.138, no.330 and Whitehead (1996), p26-27, nos.131 and 133 and feet similar to (ibid), p28, no. 152 and 153. PAS parallel SUR-E50C8A.

Maximum length: 39.5mm; width: 22.5mm; thickness: 5mm. Buckle: 22.5(w)x15.8(l)x19.8(w)mm. Plate: 13.5(w)x16(l)x11(w). Weight: 4.61g.
