Title
Medieval buckle
Description
English: A fragment of a medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame.

An outer corner of an ornate double oval frame with bilobed or trilobed edges is all that survives of this buckle. The upper surface of the fragment is decorated with two knops, each of which has been drilled with a blind hole; one on the central part of the remaining lobe and the other on the external end of the lobe where the fragment breaks. The rest of the buckle would have been similarly decorated along its perimeter. The reverse of the fragment is flat and undecorated. The fragment appears D-shaped in cross section (oval if there is a knop) and flat in profile.

Egan and Pritchard (1991)'s number 343 and 345 (p.84) are similar examples.
