Title
Medieval buckle
Description
English: A incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy double looped oval shaped buckle, missing the pin. In the centre of the outer edges of each loop is a triangular projection. It is possible that these are decorated with a moulded flower, however the frame is very worn. The frame of the buckle is rectangular in cross section and has a bevelled inner edge. The pin bar is sub-triangular in cross section, and has a knop at each end of the bar. The buckle has a dark green patina with brown corrosion. The buckle measures 48.1mm in length and 29.3mm in width. The buckle weighs 7.67g.

The buckle is similar to one shown in Whitehead 1996, 66, 410, which is dated to c. 1550-1650.
