Title
Medieval buckle
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy medieval buckle dating to c. 1330-1380. The frame is D shaped, with the frame bowing out on either side in the centre. On both corners of the outer frame is a rectangular knop, the outer frame is recessed and has a copper alloy sheet wrapped around to create a roller. This no longer moves and is solidly fixed to the outer frame. The frame is oval shaped in cross section, and is bevelled on the inside edge. The pin bar is recessed and is rectangular in cross section, there is an oval notch in the centre from the missing pin. The buckle has a light green patina, and measures 15.5mm in length, 18.5mm in width and weighs 2.23g.

The buckle is similar to Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 118, number 553.
